What is Solution Architecture?

Solution Architecture is the process of designing and describing the structure and behaviour of a system or application to meet specific business requirements. The goal of Solution Architecture is to create a blueprint that guides the development team in building a system that aligns with business objectives and technical requirements.  

Solution Architecture is a collaborative process that involves communication with various stakeholders like business leaders, project managers, developers, and system administrators.  

What are the key responsibilities of a Solution Architect?

A Solution Architect is someone who builds connections between people with an IT-related dream and IT specialists who can turn that dream into reality. This means trying to understand what a client’s dream entails and clarifying those requirements. Then you translate those requirements into an initial architecture. The initial part is especially important here: it can always change. We don’t call ourselves Agile Architects for nothing!  

Some of your responsibilities and skills may include requirements analysis, designing the structure and interface of your architecture, technology analysis or selection, checking for scalability and performance, writing documentation, estimating cost, risk management …
